Fresh Air Exchangers

Worried about Indoor Air Quality? An unfortunate downside associated with modern "airtight" construction techniques is the lack of fresh air. Trane Variable Speed Blower Technology

High humidity is of great concern in our area of the country. Drier air will also feel cooler to the touch, so "sensible" (the actual sensed temperature) air temperatures can be raised. In other words, the thermostat setting can be raised by as much as 3-5 degrees without any loss in comfort. Also, it has been shown that if relative humidity levels inside are maintained at 50% or less, Dustmites cannot survive. Trane's unique Comfort-R feature provides improved dehumidification in cooling start-up and warmer air start-up in heating by running the fan at a slower speed during start-up. A simple change to the blower control settings provides the enhanced comfort. Trane's Variable Speed Air Handler and Gas Furnace are both reliable and sensible solutions to high humidity in the cooling mode, and increased efficiency in the heating mode. The blower turns at 1/2 normal speed for the first minute of the run cycle. This allows the evaporator coil to get colder much more quickly (or warmer if heating) than normal, thereby reaching the "dewpoint" much more quickly than normal. Moisture removal commences much more quickly than with standard air handler and furnace blowers. And, a Trane variable Speed Air Handler or Furnace costs less to operate. In fact, as much as 40% less. More comfort for less money! If a high efficiency filter is installed on the system, the slower blower speeds allow the filter to "grab" more particles, thereby increasing its efficiency as well. Another "happy side effect" of the Variable Speed blower is the fact that you'll never hear a "thunking" when it comes on. And since it "ramps up" to maximum speed slowly instead of coming full-on all at once, there are no sudden bursts or blasts, and more even airflow is insured.
