Energy Usage Residential HVAC Products Commercial / Industrial HVAC Products Hot Water Heat Recovery Units Imagine, "FREE" hot water! That's correct. This innovative design allows the heat that's being removed from your home by the air-conditioning system to be transferred to the water in your hot water heater. This allows the heating element to consume little or no energy during the cooling cycle of your air-conditioning system. In Florida, the cooling season is so long that in many applications, these just make sense! Zone Control Systems Own the ability to have the ultimate level of comfort in every room! These allow you to maintain different temperatures in different areas of the house at the same time. Mom's hot, Dad's cold, the kid's are never happy? Keep the whole bunch satisfied with this up-to-date residential application of a tried-and-true commercial technology. Fresh Air Exchangers Worried about Indoor Air Quality? An unfortunate downside associated with modern "airtight" construction techniques is the lack of fresh air. Many Volatile Organic Compounds used in today's building materials have the potential to evaporate inside our homes, sometimes for years to come. Fresh Air Exchangers allow fresh air to be brought efficiently into the home, thus diluting potentially harmful concentrations of these VOC's to safer, less harmful levels. The efficiency of your HVAC system is affected minimally, as the "exchange" refers to an exchange of temperature. Depending on the season, the fresh air is either pre-cooled or pre-heated by the temperate air from inside the home itself. This is done without the different air sources coming in physical contact with each other, so efficiency is maximized while the benefits of fresh outdoor air are employed. Fresh Air Fan Cyclers An electronic control that is designed to improve indoor air quality and personal comfort for occupants of indoor spaces served by central air conditioning and heating systems. Less expensive than running the air handler or furnace fan continuously, it still provides the benefits. Less wear and tear on fan components, too! less moisture is re-evaporated off of wet cooling coils, and the same whole-house mixing benefit is effectively provided. Available only through licensed HVAC contractors. Cocoon Insulation Cocoon Insulation - and many other high efficiency, fire safety, and moisture control products and building materials, available from Greenstone Comfort Systems, a division of Greenstone Industries, a Louisiana-Pacific Company. Florida H.E.R.O. (a Home Energy & Resources Organization) As an EPA Certified Energy Rater for the Energy Star Homes Program, Ken Fonorow is a well-trained and independent consultant, specializing in energy saving new construction consultations. Also available for consultations on additions and renovations. Contact him via e-mail at flhero@aol.com for more information. Programmable Thermostats We use Honeywell brand programmable thermostats for the ultimate in accuracy, reliability, and ease of use. Programmable thermostats have been shown to increase efficiency and lower heating and cooling costs by as much as 10% or more! High Efficiency Air Cleaners High quality filtration products are the first line of defense in the fight for good indoor air quality. The Spacegard Air Cleaner represents one of the finest filters available for residential use today. Many other high quality products are available from Research Products, Inc. Trane Variable Speed Blower Technology High humidity is of great concern in our area of the country. Drier air will also feel cooler to the touch, so "sensible" (the actual sensed temperature) air temperatures can be raised. In other words, the thermostat setting can be raised by as much as 3-5 degrees without any loss in comfort. Also, it has been shown that if relative humidity levels inside are maintained at 50% or less, Dustmites cannot survive. Trane's unique Comfort-R feature provides improved dehumidification in cooling start-up and warmer air start-up in heating by running the fan at a slower speed during start-up. A simple change to the blower control settings provides the enhanced comfort. Trane's Variable Speed Air Handler and Gas Furnace are both reliable and sensible solutions to high humidity in the cooling mode, and increased efficiency in the heating mode. The blower turns at 1/2 normal speed for the first minute of the run cycle. This allows the evaporator coil to get colder much more quickly (or warmer if heating) than normal, thereby reaching the "dewpoint" much more quickly than normal. Moisture removal commences much more quickly than with standard air handler and furnace blowers. And, a Trane variable Speed Air Handler or Furnace costs less to operate. In fact, as much as 40% less. More comfort for less money! If a high efficiency filter is installed on the system, the slower blower speeds allow the filter to "grab" more particles, thereby increasing its efficiency as well. Another "happy side effect" of the Variable Speed blower is the fact that you'll never hear a "thunking" when it comes on. And since it "ramps up" to maximum speed slowly instead of coming full-on all at once, there are no sudden bursts or blasts, and more even airflow is insured. Passive Whole House Dehumidification Heatpipe Technologies is the leader in passive whole house dehumidification systems. Their patented Heatpipes, Z-Coils, and DAD systems are simple, effective solutions to high humidity and low indoor air quality conditions. Their award-winning technology has been used in many difficult applications, including the Space Shuttle! Dynamic Air Cleaners * Experience the next generation of air cleaning technology. Dynamic Air Cleaners employ a revolutionary and patented process that has proven itself in ongoing use for the past decade in commercial industrial and medical facilities in Canada, Japan, and Europe. Dynamic Air Cleaners remove sub-micron particles that other filters miss including bacteria, odors, and smoke. They effectively remove allergens, such as pollen, molds, and dust. And best of all, they are easy and economical to maintain. Contact us for more information today. |
